September closed on an open question: whatever moves a page from cited to named, the run had not measured it. October is the first data point on that question. It is also the first run that failed partway, and the failure was mine. Both belong in this report.
Last month closed with a deferral: the site had been restructured between runs, no effect was shown or expected, and indexing lag meant any effect belonged to September or October. This is that sentence being answered, at the early end of its own window.
In 2021 I deleted my LinkedIn account and moved to Mexico. I came back in January 2026 with one connection. Seven months and 135 posts later I have 139 followers, one post that reached 34,708 people, and enough data to answer a question I could not answer before: what actually builds an audience from nothing, and what only looks like it does.
Last month I closed the first field report with a sentence: I will publish what the instrument finds, including the runs that show nothing interesting, because a measurement you only publish when it is flattering is not a measurement. This run is the first test of that sentence. In July, one provider named me. In August, with nothing changed on my side, it did not.
PromptWatch closed EUR 6 million. Peec raised $29 million. Profound raised $58 million more on top of a unicorn valuation. The bet behind all of it is that your next customer asks ChatGPT who to hire, and being in that answer is the new being on page one. I think the bet is right. I had a different question: what do the answers actually look like?
